Dear Tea Geeks, 

On June 1st 2020 Geek+Tea will be moving from Dundas Ontario to Clarington Ontario to set up our new headquarters. This is a huge step for us and although it comes at a very strange time it is almost perfect timing as it will allow us to expand the growing side of the business. 


As the COVID-19 pandemic is taking over communities around the world we have needed to make some adjustments to our business including some pivots to make us more relevant and to survive this brave new world. Although this move may come as a surprise to some, this is really good news and something we've been growing towards. By growing in two locations (versus 5) we'll be able to focus on increasing yields and saving on gas. We're also allowed to have chickens, and we will be working on retrofitting an on-farm kitchen opposed to renting a community kitchen.

The safety of our health and our customers is our top priority and we are taking responsible precautions to help stop the spread of the virus where we can. For us, that means following physical distancing requirements and limiting the number of visitors that can do porch pickup at one time to reduce congestion and allow for physical distancing.

With reductions in postal workers, delays at customs, and the need for early closures to ensure the safety of staff and the public, this has led to unusually long shipping delays as we are in our busiest season. We are currently processing orders 5-7 days later than originally estimated give or take each week based on volume. The reasoning behind this delay is that we have received an unusually large demand for certain products due to a combination of promotional sales, and the recent global/public concern over the COVID-19 virus. Although this speaks volumes of our customers entrusting us with their geeky tea needs, we understand this also comes with a terrible inconvenience to you as well. Given the time sensitive nature of planting and receiving your orders, we do not want to disappoint our customers with shipments and are working as quickly and safely as we can. We will continue to monitor our delays and will be as transparent as possible. 

This also means some changes to our operation as Geek+Tea as we level up and move. The shop will be closed May 25 to June 15 while we set up shop at our new farm. We are very excited to be leveling up our business and we will now be charging HST so we can ensure our medical system and social services continue to be funded. Not a terrible problem to have, but, ya - a few changes.

We have received a few messages that a couple of you have been unable to place an order. This is likely due to a product being sold out, or it may be on back-order. Please try refreshing your page or placing the order at a later time. 


If you are local to us, we also offer curbside pickup to continue operating our business. At checkout choose "Porch pickup". All orders over $65 include free shipping or free local delivery if you are within 10 km of our shop location which as of June 1st is 6560 Middle Road, Clarington ON. Once we move to our new farm obviously things will change. However, for our loyal and devoted customers Mr D still has a year at Mohawk College and Aly will still be working for Halton Food so we can arrange for delivery based on schedules or biweekly deliveries to Hamilton* / Burlington*.


The shop is closed Sunday and Monday. Packaging typically occurs on Tuesdays - Thursdays with deliveries Thursdays to Saturdays. If you are experiencing a delay in receiving your order, we apologize and thank you for your continued trust in our geeky tea shop. All Canada Post orders come with a tracking number.

As we seek out more ways to get our products out to you quickly, we wanted to let you know the steps we have taken:

  • We have instituted additional sanitary procedures in our community kitchen.

  • We have booked additional days at our community kitchen and are the ONLY persons in the facility.

  • We spend the first hour of our kitchen days sanitizing to ensure health and safety.

  • We strictly monitor social distancing practices.​

  • We are limiting the number of porch pickups.

  • We have become hermits and grumpy old hobbits.

  • We will ignore all emails and phone calls which have a negative tone and cancel orders that come in that are aggressive in nature including those persons who feel it necessary to yell at us. 

  • We are closed to the public which will allow us to concentrate on our online and retail partner orders as much as possible to reduce the backlog.

  • We are fulfilling orders in the sequence that they are received and no longer shipping across borders or internationally to alleviate further delays at customs.

We appreciate you trusting us with your order and as a result of your continued support we have been able to keep all of our two staff employed and paid over this time, and have been able to hire additional help.

Over the years, our Geek+Tea community has been faced with challenges, we have always been inspired by how we emerge stronger and with an even deeper sense of purpose. We will persevere through this challenge, too.
