Call for Artists!

Artist Application Guidelines & FAQs

Artists: We accept artist submissions from all Canadian-based artists. To see examples of past selected artists and mediums, and to learn more please look at our Local Artists Series.

Mediums: All mediums are accepted except still life photography. We are always looking for a diversity of mediums including but not limited to watercolour, linocut, embroidery, oil, collage, quilting, carving, assemblage, stained glass, etching, handmade paper, seed mosaic, plant material collage, wood burning, metal work, clothing, pen and ink, vector, fabric, and functional pottery.

Submissions: Submit two images from your existing works that you feel best represent your style and are original pieces of art, styles you'd like to see on our teas! These do not need to be pop-culture or geek-culture related but keeping in mind our themes always helps. We are looking at your originality, medium, craftsmanship, composition, consistency, not necessarily the subject. The submitted artwork must not contain obscene, provocative, defamatory, sexually explicit or otherwise objectionable or inappropriate content. Please consider our product and packaging is made for children, youth and adults.

Entry: To submit artwork, all entrants must submit their images in the following formats- .PDF, .jpg or .png in CMYK colour format. The final images will fit on square 3"x3" or 4"x4" CMYK labels with the possibility for future projects.

The winning artists receive: Exclusive cover art for a Geek+Tea blend for 18 months, $200 CAD, a Geek+Tea gift set with your art on the packaging to make all your friends green with envy, exclusive 20% discount code at our shop, an exclusive blog post showcasing you as an artist and your process, front page exposure on our website, your art displayed in our mobile tea shop at comic cons and events (potential exposure of 180 000+ customers / year), great exposure in homes, shops, your name on the packaging, bio and website link on geekandtea.ca, geeky satisfaction, and Geek+Tea love. View the previous winners and artists here.

Privacy: Geek+Tea will never sell, distribute or duplicate an entrant’s artwork to any third party without express written consent from the entrant nor use it for any other purpose other than evaluating your style and design with our group of judges. Any artwork submitted will not be used for any promotion, distribution or sale unless written consent from the entrant is obtained. All rights to artwork remain with the entrant unless otherwise agreed upon in writing with Geek+Tea.

Questions: Due to the number of submissions, we do not have time to respond individually to questions. Please do your best to follow our submission guidelines. We've made them as simple as possible. If you have any technical issues with using the Submission Form please send an email to info@geekandtea.ca. Finalists will be contacted mid-January. We do our best to notify all applicants of their status, however this process can take some time.

Thank you for offering your creativity to Geek+Tea - if you are selected to be a semi-finalist, you will be given variety of options and guidelines for submitting a sketch proposal for the final cover art. May the odds be ever in your favour!
